Ampirical was selected, by a Fortune 500 utility, to re-build 25 miles of an existing 138kV transmission line in Newton County, Texas.

The project involved 255 steel monopole structures. The structures consisted of a mix of base-plated dead-end structures with concrete drilled pier foundations and typical tangent structures with direct embed concrete or crushed rock backfill. The new line will increase the line‘s capacity and will be much more reliable for the customers in the area.

Ampirical was presented a multitude of unique challenges for this project including designing/constructing the line to be capable of re-energizing within 24 hours, ROW access, wetland mitigation, grounding, and working parallel to a 500kV line. However, Ampirical has remained on-schedule and has satisfied our customer with another EPC project. The project timeline is as follows:

January 2018:
Execution of project contract

September 2018:
Contractor mobilization

April 2019:
Completion of re-build with end-to-end testing
